And were off!

The June garden is colorful, full of promise today. The potato boxes are taller than my four year old now! The broccoli despises the weather and is bolting, which teaches you to chill out because these things are not under our control. So instead I go in the house and make some quilts - coming up in our next post!

I realized I'm in love with this fabric

I have made an awful lot out of this fabric. I'm in love with it. Unfortunately it is a rather old line of Moda's. It isn't as though I don't have any other fabric. I do. I need the dopamine rush occasionally of a pile of new fabric to stroke. But this line doesn't match my house at all. So as much as I love it, I hope you do too!

What are you up to?

Trying to get sewing done in the summer can be difficult.

There are silly children to play with.

Weeds to pull. My weeds now consist of lettuce, cilantro, dill, borage and forget me nots. Don't get me wrong, I love all of these plants. But I don't really need 7.000 of them.

Got this quilt listed the other day.

More weeds. Oh yeah asparagus is spreading as well. I can't bring myself to call it a weed.

Thank goodness minions are guarding my sewing machine in my down time.

Then back to gardening.

Messes

Messes in the house.

Messes outside the house.

Wild, messy children.

But they're all fun messes. Lots of chain piecing for a quilt I'm making out of Moda fabric I've only been hoarding for ten years? I still love it this Three Sisters fabric. It's a bit more traditional than my taste has been lately. I remember buying it with my mom, not long before she passed. Maybe I like the memories more than anything.

The garden is full of plants. Some intentional and some not so much. My "weeds" nowadays consist of dill, chives, self seeding annual flowers, lettuce, wild asparagus and cilantro. So I'm carefully pulling lots of these out (except asparagus, I'll let that grow anywhere). I feel bad pulling food out of the ground but a person only needs a thousand lettuce plants instead of the six thousand I have growing.

Busy busy

Batman and his friends are keeping guard at the sewing machine.

First show. Didn't go so well. No one showed up. At least I made my booth fee back.

Oh man I love this quilt. About to list on Etsy. Not sure I can part with it!

Look what I picked for you mom! (Please don't spill that on the bag of 25 pounds of flour!)

This quilt is waaaay bigger than I thought it'd be. No wonder it was so much fun to quilt. But it sure is beautiful.

Chevrons hurt my brain. But they look cool.

Helper!

This quilt is so little and so cute.
I used up some odds and ends of this homespun fabric. Love how it turned out.
